Hinduism

The Vedas are a group of ancient texts written in Sanskrit. They include four books: The Rigveda, The Ayurveda, The Samaveda, and the Atharvaveda. The Vedas includes poems and hymns and lessons on life. In the Hindu culture, they are believed to not have been written by humans, but "directly revealed" by the gods.  Reciting from the Vedas has been used in ceremonies, rituals, and sacrifices. They are the basis of Hindu life and culture.
